I have the Next Generation Endpoint Monitor - Why do I see two collectors?

When you have the Next Generation Endpoint Monitor installed without the corresponding data collector, you will see two entries in the status for the data collector, as below

This takes place since the framework for the new collector will start both a collector and an endpoint monitor - once the collector has ascertained that it is not required it terminates itself, thus giving rise to the second entry, as seen in the image,
